PELLET PLANT EXPANSION: DOUBLING CAPACITY AND INTRODUCING HOUSEHOLD PELLET PRODUCTION

"New Fuels RSEZ" (2015)

The pellet plant of “NewFuels” RSEZ SIA had been operating since 2010, producing 140,000 metric tons per annum. In 2015, an ambitious expansion was carried out, doubling the plant’s capacity and providing the possibility to produce both industrial and household pellets. Our team was responsible for evaluating, delivering and implementing a turnkey solution for this expansion, including the implementation of the capability to manufacture household pellets in addition to industrial pellets. Due to this modernization, it became the largest producer of wood pellets in Latvia. The pellet plant currently has a production capacity of around 270,000 metric tons per annum.

Chipper Modernization

The CBI Magnum Force chipper, with a weight of 42 tons, was purchased. It is powered by an 800 KW electrical motor, providing a significant capacity increase to 300m³ of chips per hour.

Flaker Upgrade

The plant's flaker, was modernized to ensure the preparation of high-quality raw material for the entire production process. The total capacity of the flakers now fully supports the enhanced production demands.

Belt Dryer Installation

A nearly 100-meter long belt dryer, was introduced into the production line. This new equipment enables the drying of up to 14 tons of material per hour, significantly boosting the plant's throughput.

Rotary Dryer Integration

The rotary dryer, was installed with a processing capacity of up to 17 tons of dry material per hour. This addition is crucial for handling increased production volumes.

Conveyor System Enhancement

The plant now operates with two separate lines, efficiently managing the increased material flow through modernized PST conveyors.

Granulator Capacity Expansion

Three granulators, were installed, significantly increasing the plant’s capacity. These granulators now collectively process up to 16.5 tons of wood pellets per hour, ensuring that the facility meets its expanded production goals.
